Cristel Silva Silva
Cristel Silva explores historical and personal narratives through photography, textiles, and printmaking techniques. By incorporating archival images, found objects, and samples collected from the unoccupied spaces of Tiohtià:ke (Montreal), she seeks to reveal indigenous nature and, in doing so, questions the sociopolitical layers that shape these environments. Her autofictional approach creates a visual narrative where the boundaries between the personal and the collective are blurred, offering a critical reflection on our urban environment and its underlying power dynamics, while celebrating the resilience and richness of its local stories. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, and her work has been presented at Fais-Moi l’Art Gallery, UQAM Gallery, and centre SAGAMIE . Originally from Mexico, she lives and works in Montreal.
